The Basics
My Train Tracker allows you to document your model railroad/model train collection and layout(s). You will be adding your
Items into your account piece by piece. Each Item will be added directly to one of two types of
Containers, either a Layout or a Collection.
When adding an Item to either a Layout or a Collection, that Item can also be assigned to a specific Container of the other type as well.
Example: - If you have a Collection named "Buildings" and a Layout named "HO Scale" and you're
adding an Item to your Buildings Collection that represents a model building that resides on your HO scale layout, you can also specify that
the building Item belongs to both your Building Collection and also your HO Scale Layout.
Navigation
Your "My Control Panel" page serves as your home page in My Train Tracker. All of your Layouts, Collections, and Items, as well as
documentation, Account, and more can be accessed from this one central location.
As you navigate through the pages of the site, you will see a trail of "breadcrumb" links at the top of the page telling you where you are
in the site and giving you an easy way to navigate back through the trail without having to use your browser's back button. In fact, we prefer you
not use the back button if at all possible.
The following picture shows the breadcrumb links at the top of the "Add Item" page. These breadcrumbs tell us that, starting on "My Control
Panel", the
Collections icon was clicked bringing us to the "My Collections"
page. Then the "Manage Items" link was clicked from a specific Collection bringing us to the "Manage Items" page. And finally the
"Add New Item" bringing us to the current "Add Item" page. Any of the links can be clicked to navigate back to that page.
